Who is getting hit hardest by Obama’s (now Trump’s) drones?

Rural civilians – women, children, the elderly – most of whom have nothing to do with terrorism.

How did we go from “America’s War on Terror” to a global war on war on tribal civilians, mostly poor, mostly rural?

These people value freedom, honor, and community life and oppose centralized governments.

The governments of the countries these tribal people find themselves in don’t like them and are happy to use the America’s “war on terror” to eliminate them.

“For us it’s 9/11 everyday.”

Note: The author Akbar Ahmed assumes the official 9/11 story is true (i.e. a handful of men in caves engineered the seizing of four airliners with with box cutters and outwitted the US air defense causing two state-of-the-art modern office towers to collapse at demolition speed flawlessly into a tight footprint)

Clearly this is a flaw in his thinking.

However, his core message – that we are helping central governments of places like Pakistan and Afghanistan terrorize and destroy their “inconvenient” rural populations – is right on target and is a very important one.

Unfortunately, no one has done a great interview with him on his book so we’re going with what we’ve got.

Murder of innocents

I just saw this film. If it comes to a theater near you, see it.

If you think there’s something sinister about the US’s drone warfare program, you don’t know the half of it.

We’re murdering and dismembering innocent civilians everyday.

Obama either knows or is too lazy to care.

He’s worried about this legacy.

Not really that funny

Wired Magazine, in its patented smarmy way, make a joke of a new and dangerous reality:

It’s now possible for hackers to hack into and take control over cars.

When journalist Michael Hastings was killed less than three years ago when he car suddenly went dangerously out of control, we were told that hacking
into and taking control of a car was impossible.

Wrong.

Now the FBI has issued a warning that is it very possible.

It’s not just tanks any more

Welcome to the new fish bowl society.

Businesses are trying to find ways to bring advanced surveillance technology from Iraq to Hometown USA.

It’s another way police are bringing the war home: It’s not just tanks and automatic weapons any more.

The goal: Total surveillance of every square inch of public space – and most of these “initiatives” are being kept secret.

Takeaway: “People are just going to have to get used to being watched.”
