Does it really matter if people go shopping for the holidays?

Yes, it does, for many reasons:

1. Many retailers only profit for the year if they have great holiday sales.

No sales, no profits and a lot of stores will be closing.

2. Holiday sales are a good barometer of how people feel about their financial situation and how tapped out they are.

The premiere of “Imagine”

Lennon was murdered ten years after this appearance and has been gone for over thirty years.

A glimpse of what TV was like forty years ago.

This was pre-cable so there were only seven to nine channels available on the TV total. Obviously, there was no such thing as YouTube, but also there was no way to record programs and watch them later.

An event like this – an interview with John Lennon – was huge and captured a huge percentage of the population’s attention.

I think the quality of attention people paid to programs like this was different from today because people believed they were not going to have the option to see it again.

Monarch Programming

While the criminals down at the CIA will never admit to the degradation and manipulation they pulled as a part of their Project Monarch programming agenda, this early cartoon does a good job showing how trauma-based brainwashing occurs. With the assistance of psychiatrists and hypnosis, some victims of the government mind-control plan have been able to deprogram and articulate their terrifying experiences.

These mind-controlled servants have been used by governmental and corporate entities — even to carry out assassinations!

Is Bob Etheridge insane?

This one is named Bob Etheridge.

He happens to be a Democratic Congressman from North Carolina.

He’s pretty representative of the caliber of the people who hold these positions at the federal, state, and local levels.

Just lacks a little of the polish some of the others manage to maintain (though Flip-style video cameras are surely going to be exposing more episodes like this in the months and years to come.)

The Republicans have spoken

In case it’s not clear, to me Democrats and Republicans are equally absurd, just different in style.

But this one, Christine O’Donnell, takes the cake.

Nominated to run for Governor of Delaware. Governor. Not dog catcher or local School Board Chairwoman.

Maybe it’s a good sign.

The whole political system in the US is becoming an obvious joke. Maybe it will be replaced with something else that’s remotely functional.

25%+ of all Pentagon money is unaccounted for

The Pentagon receives the lion’s share of the US tax payer’s dollars.

36% goes to current military expenses. 18% goes to what’s called “past military” which includes veteran’s pensions and medical benefits.

The US spends more on its military than the following countries COMBINED: China, Russia, Britain, France, Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, India, Brazil, Italy, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, and Indonesia.

Where does the money go?

At least 25% – and some estimates are much higher – goes down a rat hole unaccounted for and never to been seen again.

The above news report ran the day before September 11, 2001. The problem since then has become exponentially worse.

Glenn Beck – Professional Jackass

Every now and then we win.

CNN – and in this pointed case Glenn Beck – likes to paint itself as a reliable, unbiased source of news.

For an “unbiased source” then do seem to have tremendous enthusiasm for promoting wars.

Could that have anything to do with the fact that Lockheed Martin pays its bills?

Media analyst Norman Solomon sucker punches professional jackass Glenn Beck with the facts. Watch Beck squirm.

What I wouldn’t pay to hear the transmission from the control room to Beck’s head phones as the news director – those nameless invisible creeps who control what we see on TV news – tries impotently to blunt Solomon’s point.

This is probably the last time Norman Solomon will appear live on CNN, but I say it was worth it.
